Yawn! Slowly awakening with the new day. There is such creativity and art all around me. I feel inadequate. Eater and spring bring rejuvenation, but I am not there yet. Now more than ever I want a nap and a vacation. Is it the church, kids' with too many activities or just stagnancy in my creative outlets? hmmm

Another cool note - I listened to a wonderful presentation on recycling with worms. The whole concept that is really neat. You put this bin under your sink with worms in one layer. The worms eat all biodegradible materials leaving you with fertilizer tea, no smell - they promise. I may have to look into this some more for my summer project.

Romans 5:1-5 How dare a scripture on endurance and suffering - one of being tempered in a pit of suffering and fire if you will - begin with words of peace and grace and conclude with love and hope? Yesterday, businesses and schools in my Texas hometown were a bit frantic and paranoid over a basic thunderstorm, and rightly so. The disasters of Oklahoma tornadoes earlier this week and the national disasters of the past few months have been more than enough to make anyone wonder where is God in all of this. But isn't that exactly where God is? In our wondering and searching and even shaking of our fists in anger. Isn't that where God is? Right beside us. But that is so hard to see for the person who lost a loved one, the person who has nothing left, the person who is unemployed and has a family looking to them for support. The Blessed Invisibles

This second Sunday of Advent , that yearly season of waiting, we look to first things. The Good News, the baby is coming. How do the gospels start the story of the good news – the blessed story of Jesus among us? Matthew begins with a genealogy and an angel convincing Joseph not to divorce Mary. Mark begins with John the Baptist preaching in the wilderness of one to come and then Jesus’ baptism John – begins with - In the beginning was the Word and eventually gets to John foretelling one to come after whose sandals he is not worthy to tie. It’s no wonder so much of our beloved memories of The story come from Luke – we have heard that the elderly couple Zechariah and Elizabeth are expecting a baby and an angel has appeared to Mary. After being told not to be afraid by an angel, we join the story.
